If you don’t believe in prayer, there are a bunch of studies showing the immediate effects of prayer across thousands of people which you may just change your mind.

Even the most powerful man on this planet talks about the power of prayer.  Actually, it’s part of his job since the National Day of Prayer is an officially earmarked day by the US Congress since 1952 – President Harry Truman’s times.

But in the end, prayer is a matter of faith.  And this event is one way to further expose the secular culture to our faith publically.

After all, this is an officially government-proclaimed day.  In fact, this has been done every year for the last 58 years!

May 7th is this year’s National Day of Prayer which has as one of its primary purposes to intercede for America and its leadership in the seven centers of power:
  • Government
  • Military
  • Media
  • Business
  • Education
  • Church
  • and Family

The NDP Task Force website has listings of thousands of local churches joining in the Day of Prayer in May.  This is a great way to involve your ministry in something bigger and use the economies of scale and attention to bring more people in the door.

Exposing more people in your community to prayer, especially in these economic times, can be one of the most powerful ministry activities you lead this year.
